Chair for Corrosion and Corrosion Protection

The development of new materials and surfaces featuring desirable properties is driven by the ever-increasing demand for optimized materials in such sectors as the aerospace and automotive industry, chemical and power plants, and also medical technology. A pre-condition to future development and engineering of innovative materials providing enhanced properties is the possibility of material characterisation at the level of microstructure, and identification as to how microstructural properties interrelate. At the Chair of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection the main focus of our activities is to engineer materials and surfaces optimization, including optimization in terms of corrosion properties both with and without mechanical load. The chair of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection is dedicated to innovative, wide-ranging high grade research and the successful transfer of research results into practical application in Germany industry.
