New "Leerprofessur" Theory and Computation of Energy Materials

KKS welcomes new colleague Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Michael Eikerling

We welcome our new colleague Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Michael Eikerling who has taken up the new Leerprofessur "Theory and Computation of Energy Materials" on May 1, 2019. He was appointed in a joint procedure with Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (based on the Jülich model). Professor Eikerling studied theoretical solid state physics at RWTH Aachen University (diploma in 1995), completed his doctoral thesis at Forschungszentrum Jülich and defended it at TU München (1999). From 2003 to 2019 he was professor of theoretical chemical physics at the Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia (BC), Canada. Between 2003 and 2013, he also played a major role in setting up a program in physical modeling of fuel cells at the National Research Council in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Professor Eikerling was appointed head of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK) at Forschungszentrum Jülich. There he is responsible for setting up a new institute division (IEK-13).
